From the Eastern Cape. When he and his mother first move to Cape Town, they make a living from the Marconi Beam dump. His mother later becomes a vendor in Claremont. He has had a calling to become a diviner.
Rashaad
From a wealthy, protective family, he’s battling to reconcile his sexual orientation with his religion.
Shelley
From an affluent family in the Gardens, she finds it difficult being white and rich. She loves taking up causes. She has quite an interfering, ambitious mother and a distant father.
Zadie
Lives in the cramped domestic quarters in the home of her mother’s employer. She struggles with her identity and peer pressure.
Regan
Lives with his parents in a tiny flat in Lavender Hill. He has managed to extricate himself from gang culture and has a love for hip hop, breakdancing and rap.
Brunette
She’s moved down from Soweto after her parents’ divorce and lives with her father. She loves wigs and dying her hair and is restless and impatient when she can’t get things right.

Loves trendy clothes and the trappings of the elite. Lives with her parents in Pinelands
